“When you’re a CASA, you’re a support to everybody. Not just the kids, but the parents and family members.” CASA Volunteer Kay recently helped close a case where the outcome was family reunification. She said that the parents of two young boys really struggled at the beginning, but it was a “team effort.” Kay said that the foster dad was an especially huge help to the parents. He encouraged them and showed them good parenting techniques, and both he and Kay would discuss various ways to further support the parents. And while not typical or expected for a CASA to remain in contact after a case closes, Kay still hears from mom and is sent pictures. “They’ve done a great job!”
